Scorecard

If you take action, it's only fair we keep you updated on the results. Here's the most recent score as we know it.

Arizona Update:

In May, we asked Arizonians to speak out for renewable energy — and speak out they did, in record numbers. All told, 5,600 citizens signed an on-line petition in support of the Commissions efforts to increase the state's renewable energy standard, and about 100 showed up at the public meeting in the Commission's offices in Phoenix on May 23.

The effort paid off big time--on October 31, 2006, the Arizona Corporation Commission voted 4-1 to expand the state's Renewable Energy Standard to require 15% renewable energy by 2015, with 30% to come from distributed energy resources like solar. See our Arizona page for more details.

Texas Update:

The momentum at the Texas Public Utilities Commission was not going solar's way, and on May 2, we asked Texans to speak up. Thousands of Texans did. And guess what? The PUC listened, changed its tune and is now moving forward with a proposal that should result in more in-state renewable energy, including solar energy. However, we're not done yet. If the PUC's plan won't actually bring solar on-line, we'll need to pony up and start the emails flying again. Stay tuned for more details.

Prop 87

Rarely do we get involved in something not exclusively solar related. However, we had a good idea for this California ballot initiative, and couldn't resist dusting off the Vote Solar Action fund and taking a swing. The measure ended up failing at the ballot box but we had good fun nonetheless. Check out the chronicle here.
