Massachusetts

When we hired Shaun Chapman, a Bay State native himself, we intended that he would be involved in Massachusetts at some point. We just didn’t think it would happen so quickly.

The state worked quickly to enact a comprehensive energy plan in 2008 (bill summary here - PDF), and there is some good stuff in there. But it is going to take some hard work at the regulatory level to see that things are implemented properly. Looks like Shaun will be heading home.

At the top of the list is Utility-owned solar and something called neighborhood net metering. We think these things are going to have a huge impact on the solar future of Massachusetts.

Connecticut
The state currently has about 2 MW of installed solar capacity- enough to power about 800 homes. We want to take that to 300 MW. The state's solar market has experienced exciting 250% annual growth despite a relatively resource-constrained solar program. Currently under review at the state legislature, HB 6635 outlines an elegant new solar program for supporting a robust and balanced solar market across residential, commercial and wholesale segments. For more details, see the Go Solar Connecticut press release here.
